Developed to provide a home for student’s of King's College London, Atlas offers luxurious dwellings in the heart of the city. Designed to be an optimum base for its occupants, the development includes a leisure centre, 25m swimming pool, games room, cinema and a roof terrace 32 storeys above the skyline of London.

Scope

As with all Downing Construction products, aesthetics at Atlas were of great importance. Our team worked with its counterparts to deliver a scheme which would provide the end user with a high-end space where they can have the greatest University experience imaginable.

Another major consideration was logistics. The site was ‘landlocked’ by a busy main road and live railway lines. This took careful planning and the implementation of an innovative logistics plan, developed in close collaboration with all stakeholders.

Delivery

We have consistently delivered student accommodation projects with Downing. Their product is of a high specification to provide a unique student experience. We are able to deliver the consistency and quality required to ensure satisfaction, hence the relationship we have maintained over 25 years.

We employed 80 operatives at the projects peak, with 6 apprentices, weighted evenly between electrical and mechanical disciplines.

Outcome

We delivered this project safely, on time and in budget. We received a KPI score from Downing of 8.5 out of 10 and were subsequently awarded Holbrook House to continue our successful association.
