Having stood vacant for 20 years, the old Royal Insurance Building in Liverpool City centre was to be redeveloped in to a 116-bed luxury hotel. As a Grade II Listed building, the project was dutifully overseen by English Heritage. We were tasked with providing the design & build MEP services for the hotel.

Delivery

Delivery

The Listed nature of the building posed some challenges.  For instance, the access to the existing basement was not suitable for the plant equipment specified.  To overcome this, we were required to strip down and re-build all plant in the basement.  The result was extremely pleasing to our site team, customer and the end user. We were also required to close a busy Liverpool street in order to lift plant machinery to the roof.  With pre-planning and programming with all relevant parties, we were able to resolve this in under a day, minimising inconvenience to the general public.
