HE Simm’s Turnover Reaches £100m As Its Strategy Delivers Results

HE Simm, one of the UK’s leading independent MEP providers, has reported a 33 per cent increase in turnover to £99.7M, with operating profit increasing to £2.5M for the year ended 31 July 2019.

The business, founded in Liverpool by Mr Ernie Simm, in 1948, has grown exponentially over the last few years, with bases in Liverpool, Manchester and London – and site operations across the UK.

HE Simm is very well established as a leading player in the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health installations. It operates in sectors including residential & student accommodation, education, commercial, hotels & leisure, health and industrial.

During the 2018/19 financial year, the company delivered projects including Media City Tower Two and Clippers Quay in the North West, as well as handing over sectional completion on its largest ever job at Canada Gardens, Wembley, London.

It has also been successful in winning and commencing projects including Embankment West in Manchester and Miles Street, Vauxhall, London. The company’s forward order book stands at £115m and it has no debt or funding commitments.

Gareth Simm, third generation Simm family member and the company’s managing director, comments:

“I am very proud of this set of results. We have come a long way since my Grandad invested £200 in setting up the company in the 1940s and I’m sure he would be proud of what we have achieved of late.

“He fostered his business on a philosophy to ‘build trusted relationships’, which is exactly the philosophy we live by today. That’s why our project handover score stands at 8.9 out of ten, 90 per cent of our work is repeat business and 100 per cent of our customers say they would work with us again. This is testament to our employees, so I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to them for their hard work and dedication.”

From a safety perspective, ‘safety will always come first’ – the company lives by its strapline ‘nothing we do is worth getting hurt for’, demonstrated by a 44% reduction in accidents over the last two years.

John Lennie, the company’s UK director, adds: “HE Simm is a fantastic place to work and to have been involved in such a successful growth period gives me great pleasure. I look forward to the year ahead and beyond and I am excited about the developments yet to come.”
