HE Simm Pledges To Raise £30,000 For Maggies Cancer Centres

HE Simm has set itself an 18-month target to raise £30,000 for a national cancer charity.

The family-owned firm is throwing its fundraising weight behind Maggie’s Cancer Centres, with a focus on raising the money to support centres close to their regional hubs in Liverpool, Manchester and London.

The charity, which builds its centres in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends and currently has a total of 21 centres throughout the UK and three abroad.

Over the course of the next 18 months HE Simm staff – including its executive directors – will undertake a series of fundraising activities to ensure they reach the ambitious target.

It has chosen the charity, with a focus on the three centres for specific reasons; Liverpool because the city has been the firm’s home for more than 70 years, and Manchester and London because it has regional hubs there.

The funds raised by HE Simm will help the expert teams at the centres to meet the needs of local people affected by cancer. Every £20 raised pays for someone in need of support to visit a centre.

The company’s Managing Director, Gareth Simm, said: “There isn’t a family in this country that has not been touched by cancer in some form or another, and that’s why charities such as Maggie’s are so important.

“To help support the fantastic work that Maggie’s provides, day in day out, we have pledged to raise £30,000 over the next 18 months.

“Everyone in the company, including me and my executive team colleagues will be taking part in a series of fundraising activities to ensure we reach our target. We will also be encouraging our suppliers and partners to get involved. We know it is an ambitious target but we also know it is achievable.”

Michelle Bate, fundraiser for Maggie’s, said: “This is incredible news and we can’t thank HE Simm enough for promising to raise £30,000.

“Our centres are very special places – warm, vibrant and full of life – with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need to find their way through cancer.

“With the support of companies like HE Simm we will be able to continue providing our services and support to those who need it for years to come.”
