HE Simm Completes £4.3m MEP Installation At X1 Media City Tower Two

HE Simm, one of the UK’s leading MEP providers, has completed work on the delivery of a £4.3m Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) installation at X1 Media City Tower Two.

The contract, working for Vermont Construction and, end client X1, saw HE Simm deliver the services to the second of four residential towers at the site. The tower, comprising 275 units over 26 floors, consists of studio, one, two and three bed apartments as well as communal areas that offer residents a gym, private dining facilities and a cinema. The company also delivered X1 Media City Tower One – and will be involved in Tower Three.

Full design and build MEP services, along with the use of offsite manufacturing installation techniques saw HE Simm work a total of 46,800 hours, install 106km of cable and close to 3,000 light fittings.

The X1 Media City scheme is proving a huge hit with investors looking for buy to let apartments in Salford Quays, one of the UK’s best buy-to-let hotspots.

Furthermore, HE Simm delivered the scheme though a local labour force, with 65% of its workers from the Greater Manchester area. Six apprentices were also employed during the life of the project.

Greg Simm, Business Unit Director for HE Simm in Liverpool, comments: “We are delighted to have completed the second tower at X1’s Media City development and to be moving on to the third block. It is a fantastic project to be involved in and to have handed over the first two phases safely, on time and on budget gives me no greater pleasure.”
