£8million MEP Services Successfully Delivered by HE Simm at Manchester Development

An £8million project to deliver full MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health) services to a major North West regeneration scheme has been completed by HE Simm.

Appointed by principal contractor McGoff Construction, HE Simm was instrumental in the delivery of essential services at Downtown, a Manhattan-inspired 374 apartment development located on the banks of the River Irwell.

Working with design partner, Abacus, HE Simm provided the full-package of MEP services over two phases including plumbing, apartment and communal area ventilation, above ground drainage and sprinklers in all communal areas and apartments.

Additionally, the company supplied full electrical services comprising fire alarms and security systems, apartment and communal electrical installation and testing, and TV and data.

HE Simm also provided MEP services, including specialist ventilation for a large underground car park forming the basement of the development.

Greg Simm, Business Unit Director for HE Simm, said: “Our expertise for delivering high quality MEP installations on similar schemes across the UK, led to McGoff appointing us on to this project.

“We tailored our approach to assist in the completion of phased handovers allowing the first phase to be occupied whilst the second phase was still under construction.

“Downtown is the latest addition to the Salford skyline and a welcome addition to our ever-expanding portfolio of impressive projects.”

Sean Connor, Divisional Construction Director at McGoff Construction, added: “The appointment of HE Simm was carefully considered based on their vast experience and proven track record.

“Their tailored approach to the project allowed the works to be carried out seamlessly, particularly when the build programme accelerated. The team’s agility and ability to adapt to timescales and assist us in completing the project ahead of schedule was impressive.”
